Exercise on Paraphrasing

1.     Additionally, Aristotle presumed that imitating involves the human maturity and in that perception he observed a role for the arts. According to Aristotle, the artist has the choice to copy the elements to consider in the world, but he does claim on the harmony of style (lawful and structural characters). He explains style in specifications of its “principles” by which he means any outside influence (aside from “matter”) that signifies the nature of things, and what its capability is. To sum things, form is the reason why something is the way it is. While Plato’s form corresponds to desired forms, Aristotle relates form to something fundamental in the object. 2.    Also one thing that varies Plato and Aristotle from each other is how they discuss imitation with respect to beauty. Beauty, for Plato, is regarded as a concept or content of the mind that is revealed in accordance to the world. Therefore he treated mathematics significantly as the reason to understand the earth.  On the other hand, beauty for Aristotle is something natural, it is also an action of form, it is not understandable as for Plato, but it is found in a thing. Particularly, it is related to the circumstance.

Main Idea: The essay tackles about how people look at art and the effects of traditional oil painting on society and modern day publicity.
  1. Paintings were prized during 1500-1900 because they were the only way to capture a moment in time and possess it forever.
  2. According to McEwan, art is more widely viewed and loved because of it being able to be reproduced.
  3. Oil paintings have always been a symbol of stature, class, culture and education.
  4. The idea of exhibiting one’s things and materialism, to show the viewer what they need in order to be happy, is from the traditional oil painting.
  5. Just like the way they were used as subjects in traditional oil paintings, women and sex were used profusely in modern day publicity to attract consumers.
